Buddhism

Buddhism, a non-theistic religion, originated in ancient India in 563 B.C. from the kingdom Magadha. It believes that human life is suffering and achieving enlightenment through meditation, spiritual labor, and good behavior is the path to nirvana. Buddhists believe in a continuous cycle of life, death, and rebirth called samsara, and pray to the "Buddha" to awaken truth. The Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, was born into a noble family and renounced material possessions to find answers to human suffering. He became enlightened while meditating under the Bodhi tree and is highly respected by Buddhists.

The website below shares more about the backstory of the Buddha and how he came to be as highly honored and well-respected as he is.
